What is Climate Mobility?

What is Climate Mobility?

Climate mobility refers to the movement of people within and across national borders as a result of both slow- or sudden-onset impacts of climate change. It involves different levels of constraints and agency, and encompasses both forced migration, displacement and planned relocation.

Climate mobility can be temporary or permanent, and can occur over different distances. The Global Centre for Climate Mobility works to ensure that whether individuals choose to stay, relocate or move, they are guided by well-informed adaptation strategies.

About Sea-Level Rise

About Sea-Level Rise

Sea-level rise is not a distant threat but a lived reality. Driven by ocean warming and the melting of ice sheets and glaciers, it is accelerating, threatening communities across islands, coastlines, low-lying deltas, and archipelagos.

Sea-level rise is undermining hard-won development gains, particularly in developing countries, including Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries.

Its severe and irreversible impacts demand urgent, coordinated international action, with adaptation and mitigation solutions grounded in the best available science and knowledge.
