The Communities Climate Adaptation Facility

The Communities Climate Adaptation Facility addresses the urgent needs of communities by closing the gap in local climate finance. Through rapid-response adaptation grants of up to USD $100,000, the Communities Climate Adaptation Facility empowers those at the frontlines of climate change. Its scalable model is designed to be accelerated by national, regional, and international partners for transformational impact.

While most climate finance focuses on large-scale infrastructure, the Communities Climate Adaptation Facility supports community-led solutions that enable people to remain in place, respond to immediate threats, and build resilience.

The Communities Climate Adaptation Facility provides sustained, predictable support to help affected communities advance their adaptation efforts. The grants target key sectors such as water and sanitation, environmental protection, health, housing, and workforce development. They are particularly vital for isolated communities or those that have lost access to government services in climate-vulnerable areas, including communities undergoing relocation. The grants also aim to strengthen local agency in restoring ecosystems, revitalizing climate-impacted economic activities, and preserving cultural and heritage assets.
